A-ki-v-a or A-ki-ba is a Jewish-ethnic name, arising in A-ra-ma-i-c from Hebrew: יַעֲקֹב, and thus cognate to English Jacob. Among Jews, "Ya'a-k-o-v" and "A-ki-v-a" - though essentially variants of the same name - are treated as completely separate, arousing different historical and religious associations: the one recalls the Biblical Patriarch Jacob, the other relates to the Roman period Rabbi Akiva.
Ketuvim (כְּתוּבִים K-ə-ṯûḇ-î-m, “writings”) is the third and final section of the T-a-n-a-kh (Hebrew Bible), after Torah (instruction) and N-ev-i’i-m (prophets). In English translations of the Hebrew Bible, this section is usually titled “Writings”.[2] Another name used for this section is H-a-g-io-g-ra-p-h-a.
The K-e-tu-v-i-m are believed to have been written under divine inspiration, but with one level less authority than that of prophecy.[3]
Found among the Writings within the Hebrew scriptures, I and II Chronicles form one book, along with E-z-ra and N-e-h-em-ia-h which form a single unit entitled “Ezra–Nehemiah”.[4] (In citations by chapter and verse numbers, however, the Hebrew equivalents of “N-e-h-em-i-a-h”, “I Chronicles” and “II Chronicles” are used, as the system of chapter division was imported from Christian usage.) Collectively, eleven books are included in the K-e-tu-v-i-m.
