A pilot flying a small, fixed-wing plane was killed Monday after crashing in a wooded area near Salem, authorities say.
The crash occurred a little before 4 p.m. in the 6700 block of Lardon Road Northeast on a private runway at the Blue Skies Farm Airport, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.
Further details on the crash have not yet been released by the sheriff's office. The identity of the pilot is being withheld by authorities pending next of kin being notified.
No one else was on the plane. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
