A Kuwait Airways plane has crashed into a bus only days after being delivered as one of the airline’s first new aircraft in 17 years.
The bus was transporting maintenance crew at Kuwait International Airport when it hit the Airbus 320, Kuwait Times reported. It was not reported whether the plane was stationary.
Damage to the plane was quickly repaired, according to the daily, which quoted airport staff.
Kuwait Airways received four leased Airbus aircraft last week. The A320s are the first of 12 to be leased.
The airline also has purchased 25 Airbus aircraft (10 A350-900 and 15 A320 neo family) and 10 wide-body 777-300ER aircraft from Boeing, all of which are due to be delivered by the end of the decade.
The desperately needed fleet renewal program has been finalised by CEO Rasha Al Roumi, who told Arabian Business in April last year the average age of the fleet was about 20 years, costing the airline millions in excessive maintenance bills.

What a headline, it would be incredibly difficult not to see an Airbus 320, bus driver needs to see an optician urgently.

I was sufficiently drawn into believing that the incident involved an aircraft to terminal passenger carrying bus, but realised they have air bridges at Kuwait International.
