Much of Massachusetts could see up to 2 inches of snow during Wednesday evening commute, National Weather Service says
Many towns and cities across Massachusetts will see the first snow accumulation of the season on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
About 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected to fall across Massachusetts Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service said. Lower amounts are expected along the coast.
The snow is expected to move from west to east across the state beginning in Springfield before noon. It will end by 10 p.m. with snow totals of up to two inches possible, the National Weather Service said.
In Worcester, the snow will fall in the afternoon and continue before ending by midnight. In Boston, the snow totals are expected to be about a half an inch.
Overall accumulation will depend on temperatures throughout Wednesday.
In Springfield, a high of 37 degrees is expected during the day, but temperatures will drop when the sun sets, dipping to the low 20s. On Thursday morning, Springfield could wake up to an inch of snow on the ground.
The same is true for Worcester, where highs are expected to reach 38 degrees during the day but drop into the 20s in the evening. Last winter, Worcester ranked among the snowiest in the country.
