תקציר הסרט "אייריס וג'ון"סרט ארכיון   שתף/י  שלח/יסיפורה של הסופרת והפילוסופית הבריטית אייריס מרדוק הוא סיפורה של אהבה בלתי אפשרית. מרדוק (ווינסלט/דנץ') פוגשת באוניברסיטת אוקספורד את הפרופסור ג'ון בייליי (בונוויל/ברודבנט) ומתאהבת בו. הסיפור מתגלה דרך חלקיקי זמן המסופרים מנקודת מבטו של ג'ון, הוא נזכר בפגישה הראשונה ביניהם לפני 40 שנה, בדברים אותם הם אהבו לעשות יחד ובכריזמה ובאישיות הכובשת של אייריס. הזכרונות מציירם את אייריס כאישה חיה ותוססת וכאינטלקטואלית מדהימה, דברים העומדים בניגוד לחייה המאוחרים יותר של הסופרת, אחרי שחלתה באלצהיימר. לאחר המחלה מוחה המבריק של אייריס מתמוגג לצל של עצמו והיא אינה יכולה לבצע פעולות פשוטות ותלויה בבעלה באופן מוחלט. ג'ודי דנץ' זכתה בפרס האוסקר לשחקנית הטובה ביותר על תפקידה בסרט.
