Plane crashes shortly after take-off in Carroll County
CARROLL COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) — An investigation is underway to determine what caused a plane to crash shortly after it took off from a private airstrip in Carroll County.
The sheriff's office says dispatch received a report of the crash at Silver Wings Aviation on County Road 207 just after 11 a.m. Thursday.
The aircraft crashed about 75 yards east of the airstrip and was still intact. While initial reports said there might be smoke coming from the plane, authorities said there was no fire.
The pilot, Marlyn Atkinson of Missouri, was taken by ambulance to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. No other persons were on the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Traffic Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash.
