KIDRON, OH — A cargo plane has crashed outside Kidron this morning and law enforcement at the scene has confirmed reports that the two pilots have been killed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation, was expected to issue a news release later today. Wooster Post Commander Lt. Stephanie Norman was expected at the scene shortly.
The crash of the 32-seat, two-engine Douglas DC-3 cargo plan occurred near Hackett Road, in the area of Stoltzfus Airfield. Photos of the plane obtained by Cleveland news outlets showed the aircraft, a fixed wing cargo plane that Federal Aviation Administration records show is owned by Priority Air Charter of Kidron.
Investigators from the FAA also were headed to the site. Some power lines are down in that area and Hackett Road is closed. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

The plane is believed to have been en route to the Canton Akron Airport for engine testing.
