Mild tremors felt in Delhi and adjoining areas on Sunday afternoon. Reports say that the earthquake came at around 3:37 pm when tremors were felt across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Initial reports say it was a 4.0 intensity quake with its epicentre being in Haryana, Sonipat. So far there are no reports of any loss of life and property, but all the concerned authorities are monitoring the situation. Earlier on May 9, tremors were felt across north India including states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh when a 6.0 magnitude had stuck in Kashmir valley. According to the USGS, the epicentre of the quake was in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan region, according to USGS.
The earthquake which occurred on May 9 had put the people in a panic situation in Afghanistan as it shook buildings, forcing people to rush out. Some reports hinted that two separate earthquakes had hit in Afghanistan and Pakistan, sending shock waves in the entire north Indian region. Apart from the quake in Afghanistan-Pakistan region, another earthquake had also hit in Papua New Guinea region on the same day. Though, there was no clarity whether a connection was there between the two earthquakes. 
However, following these two earthquakes, no loss of life or property damage was reported in the respective regions. Talking about Delhi and adjoining states, the region has always been an earthquake-prone sensitive area and is always on a risk. Especially the area near the banks of Yamuna has been termed as extremely sensitive.
