Because they were still many generation apart? Aragorn was Elros' great great great great (how ever many more generations there were, too lazy to check) grandson after all.

Am I correct to assume that Aragorn is descended from Elros? If so when Aragorn and Arwen get married, they're cousins, albeit extremely distant ones.
