The National Weather Service has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in South Texas during Thursday's storms. Refugio County has since declared a local state of disaster.
An EF-0 tornado hit in Woodsboro, in Refugio County, at 12:56 a.m. The tornado left a path of damage for 0.6 of a mile, destroying area roofs and causing window damage.
The Refugio County judge's office issued a disaster declaration shortly after the tornado hit. The declaration states the area "suffered widespread, severe damage, injury, and loss of property resulting from extreme winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and coastal storm surge resulting from a storm, which passed directly over the county during the night of the 28th and early morning of the 29th of March." It states the county judge, Robert Blaschke, determined extraordinary measures must be taken to "alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property."

This area was also hit hard by Hurricane Harvey on August 25. Many families are still trying to recover from that storm.
The second tornado touched down in Holiday Beach and was also an EF-0 tornado. This funnel touched down at 1:25 a.m. with an estimated max winds of 80 mph. This tornado's path of damage was just 0.1 of a mile long. It removed a roof from one home and sent it flying into another home across the street.
At 1:43 a.m., an EF-1 tornado with max winds of 110 mph hit the town of Seadrift. The damage path was 0.4 of a mile long. The tornado destroyed one mobile home and flipped several others. Multiple buildings were damaged in this tornado.
