When will you be comfortable removing your mask?
CHELSEA, Mass. —
Massachusetts dropped its statewide mask mandate, but not everyone is ready to go out without one — and some businesses still require them.
As of Saturday, Gov. Charlie Baker rescinded the mask order and replaced it with an advisory based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That guidance permits vaccinated individuals to go without a mask in most public settings but advises that anyone who is not fully vaccinated should still wear a face covering.
Individual businesses can also decide whether to require masks within their premises.
In Chelsea, one of the cities hardest hit by the virus, NewsCenter 5 observed that most shoppers at a local grocery store were still wearing masks four days after the requirement was dropped.
"Look at the cars here, there's a lot of people here. For security purposes, I'm still wearing my mask," Ademola Balogua said.
Another shopper, Rhiannon Muneton, said she was fully vaccinated but wanted to continue wearing her mask until she can see a few weeks of COVID-19 before deciding whether to remove her mask in public.
"Just waiting to see how everything plays out, it's still very unpredictable, with everyone's vaccinations and everything," she said.
But not everyone feels the same way.
"I'm fully vaccinated, I got the opportunity to get vaccinated, so what the governor says I do. If you don't have to wear one why wear one?" Stephen Alphas said.

- Health and rehabilitation day facilities
- Schools
For schools, the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education announced that mask rules will change in the fall. Teachers and students in middle or high schools will not need to wear face coverings, officials said. A decision about masks for elementary students will be made during the summer.
