Third March nor'easter expected to bring some snow to Massachusetts
Snow, wind impact from Monday night into Tuesday
StormTeam 5 is tracking what will become another storm for parts of the Eastern Seaboard for early next week. Models are indicating the storm will impact the area, but it's still unclear how much snow will fall.
The storm system will develop over the southeastern United States later this weekend. From there, the system will move its way up the coast. Nothing will happen until Monday night, when some snow forms in inland areas with rain on the coast.
"So Tuesday morning will be the heart of the storm," StormTeam 5 meteorologist Mike Wankum said. "As we get through the day, it starts to let up and by Tuesday evening it should move out of here."
How much snow? It's still uncertain, but Wankum said the models are indicating Massachusetts could see anywhere between 4 to 8 inches of snow when all is said and done. "I think there's going to be a lot of mixing (with rain) going on because the temperatures are marginal," he said.
Wankum said the storm will be a nor'easter, so expect gusty winds Tuesday morning, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Due to low astronomical tides, coastal areas will be spared from the first March nor'easter.
Tuesday is being labeled as an Impact Weather Day.
StormTeam 5 will closely watch this potential storm over the weekend.
