Maps: This is how Wednesday’s nor’easter could impact the region
The flowers will have to wait.
Spring is starting with snow showers, with the fourth nor’easter to hit Massachusetts this month expected to bring more plowable snow, coastal flooding, and high winds on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings and Watches for most of Southern New England. Much of Eastern Massachusetts is forecast to see between 8 and 12 inches of snow, with precipitation predicted to begin Wednesday morning and continue through early Thursday.
The service said coastal flooding and high winds will also be a “risk” during the snowstorm, with parts of the eastern Bay State likely to see wind gusts over 40 mph.

“The previous 3 storms have damaged many trees that are vulnerable to further damage, and unfortunately more power outages are a possibility as a result,” the service warned.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency cautioned residents south of Boston that “minor coastal flooding” is possible during high tide Wednesday afternoon, with more flooding possible Thursday.
“Minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible during the early Thursday morning high tide (which is mainly from 1 AM to 6 AM) along the southeast MA coast from the South Shore to Cape Cod, as well as Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket,” MEMA said in its Tuesday morning advisory. “This is due to a combination of astronomical tides (which are on the increase); an expected 2.5 feet of storm surge from Boston to Plymouth and 2.5 to 3.0 feet of surge for Cape Cod and the Islands; and 15-20+ foot seas just off the coast.”
