Williamson County wraps up RM 620 widening work

Williamson County and Texas Department of Transportation officials Monday held a ribbon cutting ceremony to announce the completion of the RM 620 widening project.
The roadway widening project stretched 2.74 miles from Cornerwood Drive to Deep Wood Drive. That section of RM 620 was widened from a 4-lane highway to a 6-lane highway including a raised median, curb and gutter.
According to county officials, the project additionally included left and right-hand turn lanes, culverts, water-quality facilities, retaining walls and construction of sidewalk along parts of RM 620.
In all, the RM 620 widening project cost $6.3 million and took 17 months to complete.
TxDOT will now move to re-stripe the existing four-lane section to a six-lane section from Cornerwood Drive to Wyoming Springs Drive, per county officials. That work is scheduled to finish before the end of the month.
